Needle: how FXNOD's Deriv Matches bot works

Needle is a ready-made bot in FXNOD's Auto Hub that buys Deriv's one-tick Matches contract, which wins when the next tick ends in the digit the bot picked. Needle counts the last digits of the most recent 50 ticks, picks the digit that appeared least, and bets that the next tick ends in it. After a losing trade its stake is multiplied by 1.17, and after a win it returns to the starting stake. You start it on one market with one of two fixed plans, with a stop loss of 100 or 500, and the session ends at the plan's profit target or its stop loss.

What Needle trades

Needle trades one contract only: Matches, from Deriv's Matches / Differs family, with a length of one tick. The contract is decided by the last digit of a tick's price, which is its final decimal digit: a tick at 1234.56 ends in 6. A trade wins when the next tick ends in the digit the bot picked. One digit out of ten wins, so a win pays several times the stake. A losing trade costs the whole stake. Deriv sets the payout, and each trade's result is listed on the run page.

When Needle enters a trade

Needle keeps a count of how many of the last 50 ticks ended in each digit from 0 to 9. At each entry it picks the digit with the lowest count and buys a one-tick Matches on it. When two digits are tied for the lowest count, it takes the lower digit, so the same ticks always give the same choice.

It needs the last 50 ticks of its market to make the count. After each result it lets two ticks pass, so entries are three ticks apart. The count is taken again at every entry, which means the digit can change from one trade to the next.

Needle holds one trade at a time: it looks for the next entry only after the last contract has closed. The entry rule sets when the bot trades and how often. It does not make any single trade more likely to win.

How Needle sizes its stake

Needle uses a Martingale stake. After a losing trade the stake is multiplied by 1.17; after a winning trade it returns to the starting stake. Losses in a row compound: the stake after two straight losses is the starting stake multiplied twice, rounded to two decimal places.

The stop loss bounds the ladder. A stake is placed only if it is no larger than what is left of the stop loss; a step that does not fit is not placed, and the session ends there. The table shows the stakes of an unbroken run of losses from a session that is level. A session that is already in profit has more room, and one that is behind has less.

PlanLosses in a row that fitStakes if every trade losesLost by thenNext step, not placed
Stop loss 100240.35, 0.41, 0.48, 0.56, …, 11.07, 12.9587.0915.15
Stop loss 500242.00, 2.34, 2.74, 3.20, …, 63.26, 74.01497.6186.59

Read the first row like this: on the stop loss 100 plan, 24 losing trades in a row cost 87.09 in total. The next stake would be 15.15, which is more than the 12.91 left of the stop loss, so the bot does not place it and the session ends.

The plans of Needle

Needle is not given a stake, a stop loss and a profit target one by one. You choose a plan, and the plan sets all of them together. Plans are named by their stop loss. The amounts are in the currency of the Deriv account the bot trades.

PlanStarting stakeProfit targetMultiplier after a loss
Stop loss 1000.3551.17
Stop loss 5002251.17

When a session ends

  • The profit target is reached. The bot stops with the session's profit at or above the plan's target.
  • The stop loss is reached. No stake is placed that could take the session's loss past the plan's stop loss.
  • You stop it. The Stop button on the run page ends the session at any time.

Needle runs on FXNOD's servers, not in your browser. Closing the page or switching off your device does not stop it, and does not switch off its limits. Starting it again after a session has ended begins a new session with the full plan.

How to start Needle

  1. Open Auto Hub and choose Needle

The bot's page opens with a How it works panel that lists its rules in order.

  2. Choose the market

Needle trades one market. The form suggests Volatility 100 (1s), Volatility 100, Volatility 75 (1s), Volatility 75, Volatility 50 (1s) and Volatility 50. Jump 100 is not offered for this bot.

  3. Choose a plan

Each plan card shows its stop loss, its take profit and its starting stake. Nothing on the card can be edited.

  4. Check the account, then start

The panel shows which Deriv account the bot will trade. On a demo account the button reads Start on demo. On a real account you tick a box to confirm that the bot trades real money, and the button reads Start with real money. The first time, Deriv asks you to approve FXNOD's automated-trading connection on its own page.

Questions people ask

What does the Needle bot trade?
Needle buys Deriv's Matches contract with a length of one tick. A trade wins when the next tick ends in the digit the bot picked, which is 1 of the ten possible last digits.
When does Needle place a trade?
Needle counts the last digits of the most recent 50 ticks, picks the digit that appeared least, and bets that the next tick ends in it.
Does Needle use Martingale?
Yes. After a losing trade the stake is multiplied by 1.17, and after a win it returns to the starting stake. A step that would not fit in what is left of the stop loss is not placed, and the session ends.
Can I change the stake or stop loss of Needle?
Not one by one. You choose one of its two plans, with a stop loss of 100 or 500, and the plan sets the stake and the profit target with it. To set every amount yourself, build a bot in Bot Forge.
Does Needle keep running when I close the page?
Yes. Needle runs on FXNOD's servers until it reaches its profit target or its stop loss, or until you stop it.
