Long Reach: how FXNOD's Deriv Higher / Lower bot works

Long Reach is a ready-made bot in FXNOD's Auto Hub that buys Deriv's five-tick Higher / Lower contract, which wins when the price ends beyond the barrier on the side the bot took: above a barrier set above the entry price for a Higher, below one set below it for a Lower. Long Reach waits until two ticks in a row have moved in the same direction, then bets for five ticks that the price ends beyond a far barrier on that side. After a losing trade its stake is multiplied by 1.63, and after a win it returns to the starting stake. You start it on one market with one of three fixed plans, with a stop loss of 20, 100 or 500, and the session ends at the plan's profit target or its stop loss.

What Long Reach trades

Long Reach trades one contract only: Higher / Lower, from Deriv's Higher / Lower family, with a length of five ticks and a barrier at one and a half times Deriv's default barrier distance for the market. A Higher wins when the price at the end of the contract is above a barrier set above the entry price, and a Lower when it is below one set below it. Ending beyond the entry price is not enough: the price has to pass the barrier. Because of that a trade wins less often than it loses, and a win pays more than the stake. A losing trade costs the whole stake. Deriv sets the payout, and each trade's result is listed on the run page.

When Long Reach enters a trade

Long Reach compares each tick with the one before it and enters when the two newest ticks have both moved the same way. A tick that did not move breaks the run.

After two ticks up it buys a five-tick Higher; after two ticks down, a five-tick Lower. The barrier is far: one and a half times Deriv's default barrier distance. A far barrier is reached less often than a near one, and a win pays more.

Long Reach holds one trade at a time: it looks for the next entry only after the last contract has closed. The entry rule sets when the bot trades and how often. It does not make any single trade more likely to win.

How Long Reach sizes its stake

Long Reach uses a Martingale stake. After a losing trade the stake is multiplied by 1.63; after a winning trade it returns to the starting stake. Losses in a row compound: the stake after two straight losses is the starting stake multiplied twice, rounded to two decimal places.

The stop loss bounds the ladder. A stake is placed only if it is no larger than what is left of the stop loss; a step that does not fit is not placed, and the session ends there. The table shows the stakes of an unbroken run of losses from a session that is level. A session that is already in profit has more room, and one that is behind has less.

Read the first row like this: on the stop loss 20 plan, 7 losing trades in a row cost 16.43 in total. The next stake would be 10.70, which is more than the 3.57 left of the stop loss, so the bot does not place it and the session ends.

The plans of Long Reach

Long Reach is not given a stake, a stop loss and a profit target one by one. You choose a plan, and the plan sets all of them together. Plans are named by their stop loss. The amounts are in the currency of the Deriv account the bot trades.

PlanStarting stakeProfit targetMultiplier after a loss
Stop loss 200.3511.63
Stop loss 100251.63
Stop loss 50010251.63

When a session ends

  • The profit target is reached. The bot stops with the session's profit at or above the plan's target.
  • The stop loss is reached. No stake is placed that could take the session's loss past the plan's stop loss.
  • You stop it. The Stop button on the run page ends the session at any time.

Long Reach runs on FXNOD's servers, not in your browser. Closing the page or switching off your device does not stop it, and does not switch off its limits. Starting it again after a session has ended begins a new session with the full plan.

How to start Long Reach

  1. Open Auto Hub and choose Long Reach

The bot's page opens with a How it works panel that lists its rules in order.

  2. Choose the market

Long Reach trades one market, and only one of Volatility 10, 25, 50, 75 and 100. The form suggests Volatility 100, 75 and 50. The one-second indices price the same barrier differently, so they are not offered for this bot.

  3. Choose a plan

Each plan card shows its stop loss, its take profit and its starting stake. Nothing on the card can be edited.

  4. Check the account, then start

The panel shows which Deriv account the bot will trade. On a demo account the button reads Start on demo. On a real account you tick a box to confirm that the bot trades real money, and the button reads Start with real money. The first time, Deriv asks you to approve FXNOD's automated-trading connection on its own page.

Questions people ask

What does the Long Reach bot trade?
Long Reach buys Deriv's Higher / Lower contract with a length of five ticks and a barrier at one and a half times Deriv's default barrier distance for the market. A trade wins when the price ends beyond the barrier on the side the bot took: above a barrier set above the entry price for a Higher, below one set below it for a Lower.
When does Long Reach place a trade?
Long Reach waits until two ticks in a row have moved in the same direction, then bets for five ticks that the price ends beyond a far barrier on that side.
Does Long Reach use Martingale?
Yes. After a losing trade the stake is multiplied by 1.63, and after a win it returns to the starting stake. A step that would not fit in what is left of the stop loss is not placed, and the session ends.
Can I change the stake or stop loss of Long Reach?
Not one by one. You choose one of its three plans, with a stop loss of 20, 100 or 500, and the plan sets the stake and the profit target with it. To set every amount yourself, build a bot in Bot Forge.
Does Long Reach keep running when I close the page?
Yes. Long Reach runs on FXNOD's servers until it reaches its profit target or its stop loss, or until you stop it.
