How to start automated trading on Deriv

To start automated trading on Deriv, open a Deriv account and use its demo balance, choose a bot tool that connects through Deriv's API, build or pick a bot, set a stop loss and a stake, and run it on demo until you have seen it both win and lose. Move to real money only then, with a small stake.

What you need

  • A Deriv account. Every Deriv login includes a demo account with virtual funds.
  • A bot tool. Deriv has its own block-based bot builder, and independent tools such as FXNOD connect to your account through Deriv's API.
  • A rule you can state in one sentence. If you cannot, start from a template and change one thing at a time.

Six steps, in order

  1. Open the demo account

Sign up on Deriv and switch to the demo account. Do not deposit yet. Nothing in the next four steps needs real money.

  2. Connect a bot tool

With FXNOD, open Connected Accounts and press Connect Deriv. You sign in on Deriv's own page and approve access, so your Deriv password never reaches FXNOD.

  3. Build a bot or pick one

In Bot Forge you answer questions: what to buy, which markets, when to enter, how to size the stake. In Auto Hub you pick a bot whose rules are already written and only set the stake and limits.

  4. Set the limits before the stake

Decide the most you will lose in the session, then choose a stake small enough that a normal losing streak does not reach it. A stop loss of 20 with a stake of 5 ends after four losses in a row, which is an ordinary event.

  5. Run it on demo

Let it trade at least a hundred contracts. Write down the win rate, the longest losing streak and the deepest point the balance reached.

  6. Go live small

Switch to a real account only when the demo result is one you would accept in money. Start with the smallest stake the contract allows.

Choosing a first market and contract

Most people who automate on Deriv start on synthetic indices, because they trade at every hour and tick steadily. Rise/Fall and Even/Odd are the simplest contracts to reason about: two outcomes, one question. Digit contracts such as Matches/Differs and Over/Under settle in a single tick, which makes a bot fast in both directions. Fast is not an advantage when the rule is losing.

The mistake nearly everyone makes

The common first session goes like this: a Martingale bot wins twenty small trades in a row, the trader moves to real money that evening, and the first long losing streak takes the whole balance. Twenty wins proves nothing about a strategy that wins often and loses large. Read the losing streak arithmetic before you choose any stake-doubling setting.

Questions people ask

Can I run a Deriv bot for free?
Bot Forge and Auto Hub require an active package with the appropriate demo or real trading access. A Deriv demo account trades virtual funds. Trading a real account always puts your own stake at risk.
Can I start with a small amount?
Yes, and you should. Deriv sets a minimum stake for each contract, which the order form shows. Start at that minimum when you first go live.
Can I run a Deriv bot from a phone?
Yes. FXNOD runs in a phone browser, and because its bots run on FXNOD's servers, the phone only starts and watches the bot. It does not have to stay awake.
Does the bot need my Deriv password?
No, and you should never give it to one. A legitimate tool sends you to Deriv's own login page and receives a permission you can withdraw.

Run a bot that keeps its limits

FXNOD's bots run on its servers and will not start without a stop loss, so your limits hold when your device is off. Build one in Bot Forge or start a ready-made one in Auto Hub, on your Deriv demo account first.
