Deriv questionsUpdated 2 min readBy the FXNOD team

Can you use Deriv without depositing money?

Yes. Deriv says creating an account is free and that you need funds only when you are ready to trade for real. Every account has a demo mode loaded with virtual funds, where you can place trades, test bots and learn the platforms at no cost. Demo profits are not real and cannot be withdrawn.

What you can do with no deposit

  • Open an account and explore every platform.
  • Trade the demo account with virtual funds.
  • Build and run a bot on the demo account.
  • Use Deriv Academy's free courses, guides and ebooks.
  • Connect the demo account to a third-party tool such as FXNOD and use it there.

What needs real money

  • Any trade whose profit you can keep.
  • Withdrawals. There is nothing to withdraw from a demo account.

Get real value from the demo

Treat the demo balance as the amount you would actually deposit. If you plan to fund an account with 50, stop the session when the demo has lost 50, however many thousands remain on screen. Use the stake you would really use. A demo traded with unrealistic size teaches habits that fail on the first real day.

Be careful with no-deposit offers

Offers of free trading money or a no-deposit bonus that reach you through social media or messaging apps are a common scam. Check any promotion on Deriv's own website, typed into the address bar yourself.
