Can you trade on Deriv anytime, day or night?

Partly. Deriv describes its synthetic indices as available round the clock, including weekends and public holidays, so there is always something to trade. Real markets on Deriv, such as forex, stocks and commodities, follow their own hours and close at weekends. Each instrument's hours are listed in Deriv's trading specifications.

What is open when

MarketHours
Synthetic indicesRound the clock, including weekends and public holidays, according to Deriv
ForexMonday to Friday
Basket indicesWeekday hours; Deriv lists one basket as Monday 00:00 to Friday 20:55 GMT
Stocks and stock indicesThe hours of their exchange
CryptocurrenciesGenerally every day; check the specification

Hours can differ between instruments in the same family, and platforms have maintenance periods. Check the specification for the exact market you trade.

Is any hour better on synthetic indices?

No. Deriv says its synthetic indices are generated by a random number generator and are not affected by external news. They behave the same way at three in the morning as at three in the afternoon. Claims about a best time to trade a volatility index have no basis in how it is made.

Always open is a risk as well as a convenience

  • There is no closing bell to end a bad session for you.
  • Late-night trading after a loss is when limits are broken.
  • Fatigue makes stake mistakes more likely.

Set your own trading hours and a daily loss limit, and treat both as fixed.

Trading while you sleep

A bot can trade at hours you cannot. Whether it keeps running depends on where it runs: Deriv says its own bot builder runs in your browser and pauses if the browser is closed. Bots started in FXNOD run on FXNOD's servers and continue with their stop loss until a limit is reached or you stop them. Either way, a bot left unattended is still trading your money, so set a stop loss you are content to wake up to.
